The Bluffs at Conner Prairie Wedding | Madi & Andy

When you envision a midwestern fall wedding day, this is it. We could not have gotten more lucky with the weather. It was cozy yet cool, and the leaves were filled with such beautifully rich colors. Those qualities alone, embodied the essence of Madi and Andy combined.

I’ve become good friends with Madi and Andy over the past couple years so there was no question in my mind when they asked me to shoot their wedding day. They’re both down to earth teachers with quirky senses of humor and a 70s earthy sense of style. The perfect combination for a laid-back, vintage inspired wedding day. In fact, when I asked Madi what she intended the overall vibe of the wedding day to be she replied, “hot girl fall”. And that it was.

Andy and Madi got ready at two separate Airbnb’s. I love the idea of getting ready at an Airbnb or VRBO because you have the freedom of choosing a perfectly photogenic spot. It can also feel much more relaxed and cozy compared to an outdated hotel room.

Once the boys were ready, Andy and his groomsmen headed to Madi’s Airbnb for the first look and wedding party photos. For such a large wedding party, it was a wonderfully laid back, low stress setting. Madi and Andy really wanted to prioritize having fun with their friends and family on their wedding day rather than shuttling from one location to the next for photos.

We headed to The Bluffs for a few more portraits and family photos before the ceremony began. Madi and Andy had their good friend, Eric, officiate. I love when a friend of the bride or groom is the officiant because they always do such a wonderful job of telling personal anecdotes and embodying the couple’s spirit as a whole.

After enjoying cocktail hour outside, guests headed inside to take their seats for speeches and first dances. Madi’s father boasted with pride as he toasted to the marriage of his only daughter. I so appreciated how everything felt so natural and easy. It really symbolized their love and the core of who they both are.

The night continued on with an endless amount of dancing, laughs and *slightly fuzzy* memories :) Guests blew bubbles as Madi and Andy waved goodbye and drove off in a 1960’s VW bus. The perfect retro-inspired ending to an even more perfect day.
