Bottleworks Hotel Wedding in Indianapolis | Cara & Peter

Where to begin with such a perfect day. I guess at the beginning?

It was a pleasantly warm midwest summer day. Cara and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the upstairs suite at Bottleworks Hotel while Peter and his groomsmen prepped for the day downstairs. Both Cara and Peter come from rather large families - Cara has three sisters (one a twin) and Peter has two brothers and three sisters, so lots of family excitement and anticipation was in the air.

Cara put on her dress by Grace Loves Lace (the first wedding dress she ever tried on) and met Peter for their first look before the ceremony. He couldn’t have looked happier when he finally saw her. They both kept looking at each other with a glimmer in their eyes, almost in disbelief that the day was actually here. After a few portraits and a first look with Cara’s dad, we headed to St. Pius with the rest of the wedding party. Although the ceremony was a traditional Catholic service, the priest did a wonderful job of intertwining personal notes and emphasizing the importance of their love. Once the ceremony was over, we headed to Lockerbie Square for wedding party photos. Lockerbie Square is a gorgeous historic part of downtown Indianapolis filled with cobblestone streets and makes for a wonderful photo op.

Meanwhile guests gathered at the High Alpha rooftop for drinks and socializing. It was the perfect spot to hang in between the ceremony and reception. Guests then walked over to Bottleworks just in time for an epic entrance from Cara and Peter. The Bluewater Kings Band announced them as “The Batliners” while “We Found Love” by Rihanna blasted over the speakers. Peter then proceeded to shake and spray a champagne bottle right as the beat dropped and the guests all went crazy. It was quite a fun moment to capture, and I love how the photos turned out. Only downside—they quickly ran out of champagne for the champagne tower :/

The rest of the evening was filled with sentimental toasts and memorable first dances. There was so much love you could almost reach out and grab it — I love days like that. How so many people can exude so much happiness for these two individuals. It’s such a pure form of human existence. I feel quite lucky to witness and document this type of love.

Cheers to Cara and Peter and the many adventures that lie ahead!
