Lincoln Park Engagement | Emily & Chris

There’s something so special about documenting your best friend in love. I’ve known Emily for almost 11 years now - crazy how so much can change in that time and yet our friendship still remains wonderfully in sync. 

I was lucky enough to photograph the moment Chris proposed to her in the summer of 2020 up in Bay View, Michigan - Emily’s favorite place in the whole world. The day felt so much like them that it only made sense to do something similar for their engagement session. 

We started at home with their beloved cat, Luigi, and then made our way to their tried and true, Tripoli Tap - where the bartenders know their names and drink orders by heart. After a quick beverage break, we headed east to Lincoln Park for a photo with the Chicago skyline. Emily and Chris have lived in Lincoln Park for over three years now so of course we had to capture their love in the place they call home.

I find the best approach for my couples’ sessions is one that feels comfortable and at-ease - capturing the sense of home you feel with your partner, allowing your connection to shine through and be in the forefront of your images. 

I feel incredibly lucky to photograph this type of bond between two individuals. Only six more months till I get to stand by beautiful Em’s side as she marries her best friend!
