Broadripple Indianapolis Wedding | Steph and Matt

It was the 1st of October and Steph and Matt were getting ready to say I do…again. Not only did a worldwide pandemic throw a wrench in their original wedding plans, but Steph’s New Zealand roots made things a bit more complicated due to her family being so far away. So it took a lot of planning and patience to finally get to celebrate with their families and do the whole ~wedding thing~ once again.

With her closest family and friends by her side, Steph enjoyed a quiet morning at home in Indianapolis. The joy throughout the house was palpable as she got her hair and makeup done. Everyone was thrilled to finally be together again and be a part of Steph and Matt’s love story.

As Steph slipped into her wedding dress, Matt was across town at his parent’s home putting on his suit. He is the youngest of the five Hurrle kids and the last to get married. Smiles were glued to everyone’s faces as the baby of the family was about to say “I do”.

Their ceremony was small, intimate, intentional. Steph’s father left everyone in tears with his surprise performance on the clarinet. It was pure magic.

After the ceremony, we headed back to the Hurrle’s home for lunch, family photos, and a whole lot of togetherness. It was a gorgeous October day—the sun beaming down in a warm embrace.

The reception took place at Gallery Pastry Shop in Broadripple, the perfect location for a low-key love fest. Steph and Matt didn’t want any of the extra fluff weddings often come with—no first dances, no cutting of the cake, no bouquet toss. It was just them having a damn good time with their closest friends.

Take this as a reminder that your wedding day can look a multitude of ways. It can be small, quiet, and non-traditional. It can be crazy, personal, and full of tequila. It can be however you choose it to be. It’s YOUR day. Do it your way.
